5.1 - Understand the nature and purpose of campaigns
In the first lesson we thought about the definition of campaign and decided " campaign refers to using techniques to promote ideas/products and to raise awareness of specific issues". We then looked at the different types of campaign that exist and their purposes/distinctive features.
We also tried to identify as many techniques used by these types of campaigns and some examples of them. Below are images of the mindmap that we created as a group from our discussions
We were asked to research about a chosen campaign and I chose Commercial. The word document below shows the the research that I did on the chosen campaign and I have researched about; what is the main message of the campaign, how successfull is it? etc...
Once the notes were completed, I had to present my work in a creative way. I chose to do an analytical video and the script for the video is shown below
After we filmed the video, i had to edit it to make sure the research looked professional, below is the video that I edited;
The video below represents research done on pressure groups and it is presented in a format of a BBC News report
Now that we have finished the first piece of research, we had to do another piece research analysing a different campaign catogary at CRANFORD community school. I chose to look at charity camapaign and specifically the Haiti Appeal that students raised money for in order to help people who suffered from the Haiti Earthquake
After research on charity campaign at cranford, I had to create a script for presenting my research in a radio broadast format, here is the scipt in a word document format
Below is the Haiti Appeal Broadcast that I edited - charity campaign at cranford
Below is an example of a POLITICAL CAMPAIGN : PEACE CAMPAIGNS - MID EAST

To conclude our research section for this unit we had to create a table consisting information on the 4 different types of campaign. For each type of campaign we had to answer the following questions;
1. What is the aim of the campaign
2. Who is the audience for this type of campaign
3. What methods/techniques are used in order to make the campaign successful
4. Has this campaign been effective?
